Moving Toward Simplifying Local Government?
In the face of current and anticipation of future realities the state of Indiana commissioned a study of state government structure.
The Commission, headed by former governor Kernan and state Supreme Court Justice Randall T. Shepard determined the size of state government could and should be reduced at the local level (see there recommendations provided as an addendum to this paper).

With Vigo County’s total energy costs hovering around $1,000,000 and certain increases in that figure on the way, the county needs to complete a full audit of its current energy consumption.
The audit will likely show significant energy savings could be achieved by upgrading the energy efficiency of county owned and operated buildings.
